From a Small Engineering Company to ISD Group International!

More than three decades of experience pay of!

After its establishment in 1977 by Günter Flassig and Ernst-Otto Georg, the ISD first built up a reputation as an engineering company in the field of plant construction, with particular focus on nuclear engineering.

As early as in the eighties, however, at a time when design engineering still took place in front of a drawing board, the ISD concentrated its efforts on the development of CAD and PDM software.

In 1985, the ISD Dortmund launched the first version of HiCAD, which is today one of the TOP 5 CAD systems in the world and the only one with its own 2-D/3-D kernel (ESM). The ISD has always pursued a “one-stop shop” philosophy: Everything needed is made available from one single source and within one system – including 2-D, 3-D and various industry solutions.

When it became apparent that data-management and transparent access to product data would become increasingly essential factors to the process chain, the ISD presented its comprehensive PDM solution HELiOS in 1996. In 2006 HELiCON, an innovative tool for the generation of product configurators was added to ISD's product range.

The ISD consistently pursues its strategy of an all-embracing, close contact to the world market. Besides the software development, the ISD is also fully and solely responsible for the fields of Sales, Services, Consulting and Training. In this way a “self-propelling” expansion accompanied by the establishment of new branch offices and subsidiaries takes place. Today, the ISD Group is not only present in Germany, but in many countries of Europe and Asia as well, e.g. the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Poland and Japan.
